In Centre (2500 criminal total filings/year, around 900 of them are ours, & all 4 of our judges sit on criminal cases) we have 6 trial terms a year.
We have two days set aside in the odd months for the pre-trial conferences for all the cases for that term -- one big day for all the cases where defendant is not incarcerated and a half day for everyone who is detained.
We run 2 court rooms for the big ptc day where you can plead, pre try the case or request a continuance. Continuances are liberally granted.
The first Monday of the even months is criminal jury selection and the following Tuesday is civil jury selection day. Sometimes we bleed over to Tuesday. For something big (murder) they usually add a special day. When you are done with strikes, everyone left gets a card with the date, place & time to report with a phone number to call to night before to make sure it is still on. The trial could start in a couple of days, a couple of weeks or just before the next jury selection.

Subject: Trial Terms
Colleagues,
I am requesting any information concerning trial terms from each county. How often you have a Call of List? If you have trial teams? How many attorneys per team/judge? How many criminal judges? Specifically it would be very helpful for counties who have more than 1 criminal call a month, likely 4th class counties and above. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Jason
