I’m on my sixth DA pretty much the whole spectrum. I’m a proponent of take the high road but motion to make them do their job. If they are embarrassed, that’s a plus.

I went to law school with her.  She's an ass.

A wise, now retired, president judge once told me when I was dealing with an extremely aggressive DA, now disbarred, that the PD can shut down the entire system just by filing motions on everything rather than dealing with his behavior directly.

I dealt with an extremely incompetent DA after the extremely aggressive one that resigned due to her incompetence by giving up on trying to get her to do basic things like respond to emails, etc and started filing motions on everything.  The PJ was already really irritated with her and, during one of my hearings where I was seeking basic discovery, he wanted to know from her on the record why it was necessary for me to file so many motions on basic things.

So, in response to her rudeness and arrogance, I would simply make sure she's doing her job and, if not, take it into the courtroom.  She won't want to look bad in front of the judge.

Hi Chiefs,

I’m the Lebanon County Public Defender. I am having an issue figuring out how to deal with a petulant Head District Attorney. She cannot respond to my staff or myself without making rude and unprofessional comments. The latest was regarding a request for the names of unnamed individuals in a criminal complaint so that we could conflict check the complaint. My secretary and I received the following response:

If your office spent the same amount of time doing work that it spends to avoid it, the world would be a better place.

If a complaint states ‘unknown’ that is different than when we redact due to sensitive natures of witnesses and/or juvenile status.

I’m going back to trial prep, don’t bother replying to me about this for any reason.

Is there any actual recourse to be had for a District Attorney who creates a hostile work environment by acting this way toward everyone in my office? I had brought it up to the County Administrator (who also has a strong dislike for this DA) and he said nothing could be done because she is an elected official.
