Fayette County puts in our appearance at the MDJ so we can get the complaint and be advised of any continuances etc.

In Erie County, when a defendant's public defender application is approved and a public defender appointed, we contact the MDJ and enter the assistant public defender's appearance on the case.  We do that so that the MDJ notifies us of any continuance request by the police or commonwealth.

We go through the lists with each MDJ office the day before to tell them who we have.  The problem becomes when they expect us to come to their offices (2 of them are 20+ miles from our office) to wait for people to apply.  Nicole
