Each attorney in my office has a color as well. We don’t make labels we just use different colored sharpies and the staff writes clients name in that attorneys color ________________________________________ From: chiefdefenders@pdap.simplelists.com [chiefdefenders@pdap.simplelists.com] on behalf of Tallarico, Christopher [CMTallarico@co.lancaster.pa.us] Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2022 7:40 PM To: chiefdefenders@pdap.simplelists.com Subject: Re: File Identification - Color Codes? Labels? Lancaster is vertical, as well. I assign attorneys to cover prelim blocks at the MDJ offices. Any case not resolved at MDJ is returned to the prelim scheduling secretary. She scans the the paperwork (waiver, notice of arraignment, prelim offer slip, and attny notes) into case management software. I go through the files and initial the outside of the file with the assigned attorney’s name. Then another secretary files entry of appearance and discovery request. File is placed in assigned attorneys mail box to take to their office. When clients apply for representation at common pleas, a file is created by the receptionist, then given to me for assignment. Labels? My office is a vertical representation office. Each attorney is assigned a color and the file is a generic manila and the label has Defendant’s name and is colored for that attorney. Our biz-hub/printer truly is part of Sky-Net’s evil plan to ruin humanity. Every time there is a firmware update, we have to change settings and it becomes a greater pain in the ass. So now, any time we are going to print labels, the secretary needs to set up the template then get up and take the envelopes out of the by-pass tray, put the label sheet in, go back to her desk, press print, then go to the aforementioned electronic satan to get the labels and then go back to her desk. I feel like there are at least three too many steps in there. So, my question is this – how do your offices “color code” your files so that the attorneys know which are their files versus somebody else’s? Thanks in advance, Brian Brian L.
